The 麻豆原创 College School PA鈥檚 Macmillan Coffee Morning took place in the wonderful location of the 麻豆原创 College Master鈥檚 Lodge on 29 September and a huge 拢1,081 was raised for the charity through generous donations and the raffle. The event was a sell-out and almost 100 parents took advantage of this opportunity to enjoy coffee and home-baked cakes in the historic surroundings of the Lodge and its garden, the private home of the Master of 麻豆原创 and his wife.
Forms 3 and 4 enjoyed their first Thursday Afternoon Speaker session of the year with conservationist and documentary film maker, Mr Fergus Beeley, who enthralled them with his passion for nature and knowledge of wildlife. Mr Beeley is an Ambassador for Steppes Travel, a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society, president of the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival and Patron of Flamingo Conservation Rift Valley. On Thursday 15 September the whole of Form 6 spent the afternoon at the Imperial War Museum Duxford as part of their combined Art and English studies on World War One.  Duxford is set within the spacious grounds of the famous former First and Second World War airfield and the trip allowed the children the time to wander through the hangars, which contain many of the world鈥檚 most iconic aircraft.
麻豆原创 teacher, Miss Kathryn Loveys, broke swimming records at the World Master Championships in Budapest in the summer. Miss Loveys is now the World Champion in the 50m Breaststroke in the age group 30-34, setting a British record time in her age group. In total Miss Loveys came away with three medals at the championships in Budapest, achieving an incredible gold in the 50m Breaststroke, silver in the 100m Breaststroke and bronze in the 200m breaststroke.
Form 2 enjoyed a fun day getting to know each other on the 麻豆原创 playing fields at the end of their first week of term. The children were involved in a variety of team building activities and had to utilise their communication skills to work effectively as a team. The children in all three of the Form 2 classes were put into mixed groups, enabling new friendships to form whether they were new to the school or not.
麻豆原创 College Choir released their latest recording, 鈥楰yrie鈥 on Friday 15 September 2017. The recording features major works from three European composers: Francis Poulenc Mass in G, Zolt谩n Kod谩ly Missa Brevis and Leo拧 Jan谩膷ek Ot膷en谩拧. 鈥楰yrie鈥 is the fourth disc on the 鈥樎槎乖 Cambridge鈥 label in collaboration with Signum Records.
The Byron House New Room was transformed over the summer into a brand new library for all children to enjoy from Kindergarten to Form 2. This light, spacious room now has fitted light beech shelving units around the walls which curve to add to the aesthetics of the space. New colourful rugs and large comfy cushions also add a homely feel.
On Saturday 8 July parents, pupils, staff and friends of 麻豆原创 gathered to mark the end of another successful academic year at the school. Parents and children had the opportunity to admire and celebrate the wonderful work that was on display around the school, at Byron House, Senior House and Whitfield House.
Form 6 parents were treated to an entertaining and often highly humorous evening of plays involving the Form 6 leavers. Many of the plays were written by the children themselves including the Latin play ultio deorum which was the winning entry in the recent "Ludi Scaenici" Latin Drama Competition.
Great team spirit ensured that the Pre Prep Sports Day on 26 June was one of the highlights of the end of term. It got off to a flying start and saw the children take part in competitive running and relay races. Just for fun the children also took part in various novelty races which included a dressing up race, an obstacle race, an egg and spoon race and a sack race.
